Our next stop was “El Lago Verde” – or “El Golfo”!

El Lago Verde (El Golfo)
Another natural example of the power of Mother Nature – this place made me speechless… This breathtaking place has been eroded by the sea over time and it is a half-dipped cone of a volcano. El Golfo leaves behind only its corrugated wall of the crater, but the myriad of his red, gold and russet colours made all my thoughts disappear.
The black sand beach of EL Golfo opens to the ocean on the one side, on the other you will find a half-moon-shaped green lagoon filled with various volcanic minerals and micro-organisms (as a result of – the green colour…). Among the black volcanic pebble stones, you can look for unique semi-precious olivines (small green stones).
We enjoyed our stay at El Golfo … maybe even without talking to each other … pure magic …its colours and the sound of the sea …
Mirador del Rio
The sightseeing point “Mirador del Río” is, again, architecture and artwork of César Manrique. It is placed on the Famara mountains – 480 meters above the sea-level. It has a tourist centre with incredible sightseeing terrace with restaurant. Mirador del Rio is a unique sightseeing place from where you may look down to the sea and the neighbour island La Graciosa.
Stunning! This place makes you feel small but free! It gives you the feeling of flying … and at the same time falling, if you are looking down, where rocks meet the sea.
