Today is the second day of our stay in San Francisco. We will walk through some of the most beautiful gardens, I have ever seen in my life – the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, Japanese Garden, California Academy of Sciences and the Shakespeare Garden.

The day began with a walk through the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, located near the Golden Gate. It’s Architecture, diversity of plants and beautiful swans, which can be seen in the lake in front of the main building, make this place special and interesting to visit.

Hip, Hip, Hippie! ~ San Francisco

After visiting the Fine Arts Museums, we decided to use for the first and last time some public transport in order to get to the Golden Gate Park. The Golden Gate Park brings together a vast area of the various gardens and parks in the heart of the city. The first gorgeous place that we visited, was the famous Japanese Garden. It was built in the year 1894 and since then is a favourite place of locals and tourists.

This is the oldest Japanese garden in the United States. It provides countless plants and miniatures from the Far East and sculptures in Buddhist style, located among its area of 3 acres.

After the Japanese Garden, we walked to the California Academy of Sciences. In the park that belongs to the Academy, the most interesting (besides the numerous types of statues and plants) are the people doing some sport in the park. Especially those who practice their Kung Fu style movements.

The last garden of today’s post is that of Shakespeare! This is a place where you can find the variety of plants mentioned in his works. The garden was created in 1913 and resembles the architectural style during the years of government of Elizabeth the 1st in England. Nowadays, the garden is a wonderful place for weddings, walking and relaxes.

In the next blog post, we will take a look at the famous hippie quarter, which gave birth to the Woodstock Era and the Summer of Love. We will visit the famous Painted Ladies and will say Good Bye to San Francisco!

Enjoy the day!
